After rereading Huxley’s Doors of Perception, and later browsing through a site by Lente Scura, I felt a need to do a sort of fantasy picture.
In the end, as you can see, it didn’t turn out that way, because fantasy is not one of my strong points. Although one has to wonder what Freud would have made of the attempts result.
The original image is a studio shot. The prime light source was a large white 1.8meter parabolic umbrella with a 600-watt flash, which gives smooth even light. The background was lit by a 500watt strobe with a large soft-box attached to give a shadow less white background. The rest was just a couple of textures layered over the top in Photoshop.
It was easy enough to do, but after reading Huxley’s eloquent treatise on imagination and awareness I wonder where the idea to do this a picture came from.
